The ASUS RT-N66U Dark Knight is a slim and stylish 450Mbps 5GHz/2.4GHz concurrent dual-band 300,000-session Gigabit wireless router. Using powerful signal tuning and detailed setup, it offers stable and fast networking. The RT-N66U and RT-N66W are the same except U has a black case and W has a white case. The RT-N66R is the same as the RT-N66U. It is simply a repackage for retail sale. Please notice that due to Broadcom BCM47xx driver limitations wireless support is sketchy. It is however popular due to its relentless compatibility with all Tomato firmware versions. It had to run recent builds of Tomato by Shibby; I did a cursory search and found people raving about the Asus N66U. Their caveat seemed to be that: the N66U didn’t support wireless AC – but the only AC device I have is a phone, so that feature could wait. the N66U didn’t support USB 3, which newer models do Jan 25, 2008 · FWIW I've been running Tomato on the N66U for around 9 months with zero problems. It was the only router I tried (out of 3) that had acceptable range in a 3 level apartment with concrete walls. Afraid I can't speak to your other requirements, but range-wise it is awesome.
